On 5–6 September, Haldetoppens Venner, DNT and their partners invite you to an Open Weekend at Halde. Throughout the weekend, the Northern Lights Observatory will be filled with life, history, activities and wonderful encounters between people who share an interest in nature, cultural heritage and outdoor life. The event is free and open to everyone.

The programme for 2026 is still being finalised, but we can already promise a weekend of exciting experiences at the top of Alta. There will be opportunities to explore the historic buildings, learn more about the aurora research that put Halde on the world map, meet enthusiastic volunteers and enjoy the very special atmosphere that can only be found 904 metres above sea level.

As in previous years, we hope to offer activities for young and old alike, light refreshments and a few little surprises throughout the weekend. Whether you’re a regular at Halde, a history buff, a mountaineering enthusiast or visiting Halde for the very first time, you’re very welcome.
